Referring to the Jaagat Jot Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar (Amendment) Act, 2026, CM Mann said that his government has fulfilled a long-standing demand of the Sikh community by introducing one of the toughest anti-sacrilege laws in the country. The law provides stringent punishment, including life imprisonment and heavy fines, for those found guilty of committing beadbi (sacrilege) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

During his address, Bhagwant Mann stated that any individual involved in the desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji will face severe legal consequences. He emphasized that acts of sacrilege hurt the religious sentiments of millions and cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. The Chief Minister also highlighted that conspiracies aimed at disturbing public peace, communal harmony, or creating unrest through sacrilege will attract the harshest punishments under the amended law. CM Mann described the legislation as a landmark move towards ensuring respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and preventing future incidents of beadbi. He said the government remains committed to preserving Punjab's religious harmony, protecting Sikh values, and ensuring that anyone attempting to spread hatred or create division through sacrilegious acts is brought to justice. The law was passed unanimously by the Punjab Assembly and later received the Governor’s assent, making it one of the strongest legal frameworks against sacrilege in the state.
